Type in either field of a pair and its partner follows. The constants are definitions, so there is nothing to source and nothing to round up.
BTU/hr = kW × 3,412.14
kW = tons × 3.51685
ΔT °F = ΔT °C × 1.8
This pair converts a temperature difference, so it multiplies by 1.8 and never adds 32.
A ton of refrigeration is 12,000 BTU/hr, a unit sized on the melting of a ton of ice over a day. It survives on chiller nameplates, so the pair is here.
BTU per hour is also written BTU/h. Both name the same rate and both convert at 3,412.14 to the kilowatt.
